  • Who are Go-Pods suited to?
We have a wide and diverse range of customers who are drawn to the Go-Pods for a number of reasons. Many of our customers are upgrading from tent camping. Lots of Go-Pod customers have downsized from larger, traditional touring caravans as they appreciate the convenience and ease of use in comparison. Being able to store the Go-Pod at home is a common factor in the decision of those customers. Solo travellers who don't need the space of larger caravans. Caravan enthusiasts in the 60 + age bracket, who find it harder to manage large caravans. Those with vehicles with small engines that are unable to tow heavy caravans. Professionals with limited spare time, who love the idea of being able to head off on adventures with short notice. These are just a few, limited examples of our customers. The truth is that anyone of any age can benefit from a Go-Pod!
  • What are the main advantages of a Go-Pod versus other caravans?
The one-piece GRP fibreglass shell has no seams or joins, unlike traditional caravans which are built with separate panels. This means that there is very little possibility of water ingress and damage. The GRP fibreglass shell is extremely lightweight, providing greater fuel economy and allowing the Go-Pod to be towed with smaller cars. The shape of the body is aerodynamic, so there is little wind resistance. Go-Pods are small in size, so they are easy to store and fit inside of most standard garages. They feature a seating area which can be converted to a double bed, saving space and allowing different configurations. Many of the components are suitable for use without access to 230v electricity supply, so the Go-Pod can be used 'off-grid' - this can save money on pitches at campsites, and also allows the Go-Pod to reach locations that other caravans cannot. There are multiple options for customisation, including 3 furniture colours, multiple fabric options and the ability to colour match the body to any RAL paint code. Go-Pods are very easy to service and maintain, requiring far less annual maintenance than other caravans. There is a thriving community of Go-Pod owners online, from a number of countries. This is an invaluable resource and owners are happy to provide advice and assistance to each other.
  • Can Go-Pods be used throughout the year?
They certainly can! With around 1.5 - 2cm of insulation, the Go-Pods are incredibly effective at maintaining a constant temperature. Multiple heating options are available, including Webasto diesel heating and Webasto gas/230v heating systems.
  • Where can I store my Go-Pod?
Go-Pods will fit comfortably in most standard size garages, meaning they can be stored at home, saving money on storage fees. At only 4.20m in length, they are roughly the size of a standard hatchback car, so some customers store them in residential parking spaces and underground garages.
  • Can I use my Go-Pod without access to 230v electricity ('off grid')?
Go-Pods are extremely versatile and can be used without access to mains (230v) electricity supply. They include: 12v, 85Ah leisure battery. Dometic CRE50 compressor refrigerator (powered by the onboard leisure battery) Webasto gas/230v heating system (will run from the gas bottle stored in the front gas locker, when 230v electricity supply is not available) 2 burner gas hob. 120W solar panel, providing charge to the leisure battery.
  • Which awnings do you recommend?
In the UK, we supply the Kampa Dometic Cross Air VW air beam awning with our Go-Pods. Designed for use with VW camper vans, it is the perfect height to match the Go-Pods and doubles the usable living space. With air beam technology, setup takes only minutes and the total weight is much lower than a traditional awning which uses poles to create a frame. There are optional bedroom annexes available online, which extend outwards from the awning without occupying floor space inside. Visit the Kampa Outdoors website to find a stockist in your country. I don't like large awnings. Are there any other options available? If you prefer a smaller and even more lightweight solution, the Go-Tarp sun and rain canopy is an excellent option. Designed specifically for use with the Go-Pods, this compact tarp can be assembled in 30 seconds and features a silver protective UV coating on the underside to provide excellent shade. It is also rain resistant and can provide ample shelter from the elements. Order a Go-Tarp sun and rain canopy here.
  • What are Go-Pods?
Go-Pods are small, 2 berth 'micro tourer' caravans, with an emphasis on convenience and ease of use. They have been in production since 2006, though the design has changed a lot since then. In 2013 they were rebranded from the 'Falcon Cockpit' to 'Go-Pods', and have since become the UK's number 1 small caravan with over 300 units sold per year.
  • Who makes Go-Pods?
Go-Pods are manufactured in our Portuguese factory by Red Lion Caravan Centre Ltd, a UK-based caravan dealership established over 60 years ago. We sell around 500 units per year, worldwide, and hope to increase that number as we partner with more dealerships around the globe.
  • Who are Go Promotions Ltd?
Go Promotions Ltd are a marketing solutions agency based in Bedfordshire, UK. We take care of the sales & marketing efforts (the front-end) on behalf of Red Lion Caravan Centre, including website management, social media and representation at trade shows.
  • How are Go-Pods manufactured?
The Go-Pods are relatively unique caravans, as they have a one-piece GRP fibreglass shell with no seams or joins. This prevents water ingress and extends the longevity of the caravan. Our patented shell design is produced by a fibreglass manufacturer using a mould. Fibreglass is poured into the mould and allowed to set. Paint can be mixed with the fibreglass before it is poured into the mould, to produce a custom coloured shell that can be matched to any RAL paint code. We build the body of the Go-Pods at our factory, using an AL-KO galvanised steel chassis as the base. We then place the shell onto the chassis, and begin fitting the interior of the Go-Pod. There is a thick layer of insulation surrounding the entire interior of the Go-Pod, which helps to retain heat in the colder months, and keep the Go-Pod cool in the summer months. The floor (and under-floor) is made from marine-grade plywood, which is water resistant and helps to prevent against water ingress from road water. It is securely sealed around the edges using high quality caravan sealant. Interior furniture units are made from strong plywood, available in 3 finishes. The seating fabric and curtains are available in a wide range of colours.
  • Can my car tow a Go-Pod?
Great question! Most cars can tow a Go-Pod. They are incredibly lightweight (thanks in part to the GRP fibreglass shell) at just 540kg factory standard. Any car with a 'braked towing allowance' of 750kg or more can tow a Go-Pod. Please refer to your vehicles registration documents or manual to check your towing allowance.
  • What towing equipment is required?
You need a standard 50mm diameter tow ball and 13 pin Euro socket electrics. This socket will accept the Go-Pods 13 pin plug which powers the towing lights, charges the on-board leisure battery and powers the fridge in transit. If your tow vehicle has twin electrics you can buy an adaptor to convert the leads. If you have only 7 pin electrics on your car, you can use an adaptor but it will only operate the driving lights & won't power anything else. You do not require an AL-KO branded tow bar and non branded tow bars are fine to fit.
  • Are there any towing speed restrictions?
Go-Pods sold in the German, Austrian and Swiss markets are fitted with shock absorbers to comply with the TÜV 100 Km/h regulations. We are not aware of restrictions in other countries, but shock absorbers may still be fitted to Go-Pods sold in these markets.
  • What are the tyre specifications?
Tyre sizes & suitable alternatives The standard tyre size for all Go-Pods (including those with an upgraded chassis rating of 1000 kg) is 175/70 R13 86N. A suitable alternative for Go-Pods with a chassis rating of 750 kg is 175/70 R13 82T. Tyre pressure Go-Pod trailer wheels are 35 psi. Wheel nut torque The wheel nut torque is 65lbs for standard wheels and 95lbs for alloys.
  • Which gas bottles can be used with a Go-Pod?
The most common gas bottle that Go-Pod owners use is the Campingaz 907. They are widely available across Europe and most service stations, camping stores and caravan dealerships are stockists. Some owners also use 2 x ALU (mini) 2.7kg bottles.
  • Where can I have my Go-Pod serviced?
Any reputable caravan workshop will be able to service your Go-Pod, but we recommend visiting your local Go-Pod dealer, as they will have more specific knowledge of the Go-Pods and will be able to obtain replacement parts for repairs, if necessary. A typical service includes checking the integrity and working order of the critical safety components (chassis, hitch and brakes), electrical and gas systems.
  • Where can I buy a Go-Pod?
We have a number of dealerships across Europe and beyond. Previously, the only sales and collection point was at our premises in Lancashire, UK, but in 2023 we doubled our production capacity and formed partnerships with reputable caravan dealers across the world.

We are always looking for more dealers to partner with. Fill out the form on this page to register your interest, and we will make contact as soon as possible.
  • I have seen your UK website. Why are the specifications different?
We fit a number of optional extra items to our UK Go-Pods in our workshop in Southport, Lancashire. We are not able to source these items at our Portuguese factory. The Go-Pod dealer in your country may offer some of these options (such as automatic motor movers, which are mostly generic and widely available) so you should contact them directly to confirm. Please refer to our dealer page for contact information and locations of the dealers in your region.

Please complete the form on this page. We will make contact with your local Go-Pod dealer to arrange production. If it is possible to ship your Go-Pod with the dealers next batch, we will attempt to do so, to minimise transport costs. If this is not possible, your dealer will provide a quotation for delivery. Your order will be placed via your local Go-Pod dealer, who will take care of payment and and necessary import documentation, and we will organise the production and transport.
